Couples Day Tees Up for "Crush Cancer"

The Social League celebrated a day of fun and friendship at Isabella on June 13th by hosting a Couples Day outing & luncheon to raise money for the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Center Institute in Little Rock, Arkansas' only cancer research and treatment facility.  Most members and guests anted up to win prizes on designated holes.  Winners were: Jimmie Carpenter won the 50/50 pot for $160; Marilyn Thomasson won the $30 drawing on the Play Par 5's as a Par 3 event; Claire Crumpler won $15 on the ladies' closest to the pin on Pinta #8 (she made a 13'8" putt for her very first birdie ever!); Steve Shorts won $25 on the men's closest to the pin on Nina #8; Lisa Morris and Steve Shorts won the Putting for Fun Trophies event.  Lisa and Steve get to enjoy their trophies for the season, but will return them to the league in September for next year's winners.  Well worth noting is all cash winners donated their prizes back to "Crush Cancer" to benefit the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Center Institute.  In all, the League raised $890!  Many thanks to all!

The "Crush Cancer" Golf Sale held on April 13th and 14th broke all previous years' efforts, raising over $9,600 to benefit the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Institute.  Our very own Janet McDonald won the 50/50 raffle pot. Pictured below is Becky Siler, WGA 18, left, awarding Janet her $889 prize winnings.

Spring Luncheon Kicks Off 2018 Season

The WGA Social League held its annual Spring luncheon at Diamante on March 28.  Members enjoyed a tasty pasta bar accompanied with salad, rolls, and the club’s infamous chocolate chip cookies.  President Mary Cupstid opened with welcoming remarks and had each Officer report on their department.  Guests Becky Dost and Debbie Johnson from WGA 18 gave an update on the “Crush Cancer” drive.  Gretchen Hewitt provided entertainment with lyrical golf ditties.  Well deserved recognition was given to  Marcie Knighton for her dedication in organizing league play during the off season and on Fridays during in season.  Cynthia Chandler and Carol Dubblede handed out many door prizes to lucky winners.  Mary concluded the meeting by reviewing proposed amendments to the bylaws to which the membership unanimously voted yes.
